Aquaculture faces critical challenges, including fish welfare, growth optimization, and disease prevention.
This doctoral research investigates the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to improve aquaculture practices and examines fish immune responses to vaccination. The thesis is structured in three parts : a review of current AI applications in aquaculture, covering water quality monitoring, behavior analysis, feed management, and species recognition ; the development of AI-based methods for enhancing fish welfare and growth using machine learning and deep learning models for real-time monitoring and adaptive strategies ; and the evaluation of fish reactogenicity and immunogenicity to vaccines, integrating experimental data with AI-driven modeling. The results demonstrate that AI can support decision-making, promote sustainable practices, and provide a foundation for precision aquaculture.
